Spring Colours and Creative Growth

Creativity in Full Bloom

Spring always brings a sense of renewal—longer days, bright green shoots, and gardens slowly filling with colour. It’s been the perfect inspiration for my students’ painting projects this term. We’ve explored fresh colour palettes and seasonal themes, from botanical studies to landscapes bursting with spring flowers and leafy trees.

We began the term with an animal portrait study, focusing on detailed features and fur textures. From there, students explored a variety of projects, including spring landscapes. The beginners’ group recently completed a Spring woodland scene in watercolours, while the intermediate class took on the challenge of bluebell woods in both watercolour and oil pastel resist. The results have been absolutely stunning! It’s been incredible to see the range of artwork created over the term and even more exciting to witness the progress of students who have moved from beginners to the intermediate level. Their confidence as artists has grown so much, and I’m absolutely thrilled with their work!

The classes at Cornerstone Wokingham have also become such a wonderfully social and creative space, making each session even more enjoyable.

New Day Workshops

Alongside my regular 10-week courses, I’ve introduced new one-day workshops, which have been a fantastic addition. We started with an expressive spring tulip study, inspired by the work of local artist John Piper and using my favourite inks and mixed media techniques.

With the success of these sessions, I’ve added even more summer-inspired workshops on Saturdays, and I’m already planning some favourite projects for autumn. These workshops are a great way to switch off, immerse yourself in painting, and try new techniques. Plus, all materials are provided, so there’s no need to bring anything!

Painting Parties – A Unique Creative Experience

This year, I’ve also started painting parties for small groups of six to eight people. It all began when a group of friends asked if they could celebrate a special birthday with a creative day together. The experience was such a success—they were completely absorbed in painting while spending quality time together.

If you’re looking for a fun, creative way to mark a special occasion, a painting party is a wonderful way to make lasting memories!

Looking Ahead to Summer

My summer courses and workshops are now ready, featuring a wonderful selection of seasonally inspired projects that I can’t wait to share. Whether you're a beginner or an intermediate artist, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Bookings are now open, and spaces tend to fill quickly—so if you’d like to join, now is the perfect time to secure your place. I’d love to welcome you to the studio this summer!
